The reason we still have hair remaining on our body is to help us be aware if our parts are in danger.

For instance, armpit hair is to let us be aware that our brachial artery and nerves may be in danger. It would be bad if we lost our upper appendages in the wild.

And so the same goes for our head and genitalia (to protect our reproductive organs to perpetuate the species).

Hair increases skin sensitivity and hold in heat. I don't think most animals need those things like humans do.
