Is consuming (eating) products derived from humans haram?

If so, you might want to cut back on any pizza and/or bagel consumption:

AP

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. 閳? Walking into the small Florida City warehouse, Blair Blacker pauses to survey the towering pyramid of canvas bundles, each about the size of a punching bag, that contain the stock-in-trade of his business: human hair.

...

The mats stored in southern Miami-Dade County are part of a world marketplace for human hair. Uses range from the obvious, such as false eyelashes and wigs, to the more obscure: it's a common raw-material source for l-cysteine, an amino acid frequently used in baked goods such as pizza dough and bagels.

Say it with me, "EEEEEWWWW!" I think I'll start making pizza at home now.

You are correct. I recently discovered panera breads bagels and alot of its breads have L-cysteine which is in fact derived from human hair. I don't eat humans derivatives. LOL

I won't say it is halal or haram because I can not give you any sources that say so specifically but I will try to search for it. K;)

But if I can recall you shouldn't wear "fake" or someone elses hair so I imagine you shouldn't eat it.

Why is their so many junk in food an drink products these days? Just a couple of days ago someone posted stuff about coca cola having crushed beetles in them or something like that :S Why can't they just use normal ingredients?? Its not hard! All you need is flour, cheese and the tomato paste etc. etc.

Your bakery product may contain human hair and you may not even realize it. It comes in the form of L-Cysteine, a non-essential amino acid.

It is a haram product for Muslims because it is a part of human body. Islam does not allow to consume any part of human body. Some Rabbis accept it as Kosher ingredient saying it is dead part of the body but some do not.
