How to dye clip-in extensions from very dark brown to medium/dark brown at home?

Just purchased clip-ins from the internet and oh well, of course they're the wrong colour. They look almost black, while my hair is mediam/dark brown. I don't want to spend money at a salon, so could I just buy a medium brown hair dye at Boots and dye them myself? They are 100% human hair.

Also, how much would it cost to trim them at a salon? Or, how to trim them at home to get a layered look. By the way the're 19" long.

You have to be careful when you color them. It is very hard to lift black hair up to a medium brown and not have it turn orange. If you insist on doing it at home, get a color specifically for dark hair. Make sure that it says for dark hair on the color. Also, you have to take into consideration the color that you want to lift it up to. I would have to see the extensions and your hair to be able to give you a formula. Sorry. The easiest way to do it is to go to a salon. And there is no guarantee they can get it right either. I would call the company you bought it from and try to get them to exchange it for the right color. If it is a good company they should do it for free if it was their fault.

It should work, using a dye at home from boots, though cause you'll be going lighter maybe try a lighter shade then your aiming for, but then you'd have to be wary about that cause it could go really wrong, maybe go to your salon and get some advice.

Please, please dont dies extenions. Thats SO old school and CHEAP! Either return them OR if there NON-returnable, just buy new ones. Im sure you can afford it.

If it's the clip-in type, I assume it's synthetic hair. Unless it's 100% human hair, you cannot color it to make it lighter. (hair dye only works on real hair, not synthetic hair)

I actually had attempted this once %26amp; just ended up wasting my $$.
