I was just wondering if anyone knew how to style a synthetic wig?

because anytime I go to a beauty supply I see all these nicely styled wigs none of them are human hair it's all synthetic but I see some that have spiral curls some that are super wavy I just see a bunch of different styles and I was wondering how does the maker of theses wig get this fake hair to hold these spirals or all the other styles I see what tools do they use to style this fake hair without damaging it cause after we buy them if we put heat to them they are destroyed just wondering what stying tools they use to make this synthetic hair hold style

DO NOT EVER use heated tools (i.e. curling iron or straightener) this will melt the synthetic hair!

Hi there.

I actually own my own comapany and sell wigs (synthetic, human hair and lace front) throughout Canada, the U.S and Europe. I also sell extension wefts as well.

The synthetic wigs you see with curls, spirals, straight, wispy are all made that way. If you purchase a curly wig, then it will always remain curly (even when washed). Same thing goes for the straight, wavy or wispy ones.

When purchasing a synthetic wig, you are a little more limited as to what you can do. You can not make a straight wig curly or vise versa. You would need to purchase one of each...Human hair is another story.

The only option I can give you is if you have a straight wig, wash it, place some rollers in it as it is drying and let it dry this way. It will give you bounce and a slight wave.

Pease see the following hints...They will be very helpful in maintaining your wig for a long time:

* WHATEVER YOU DO...PLEASE NEVER PUT HEAT TO THE WIG. THIS WILL DESTROY THE FIBERS AND FIZZ THEM TOGETHER.

* WHEN WASHING THE WIG, PLEASE ALWAYS WASH IN COLD OR COOL WATER...NEVER HOT OR WARM.

* STAY AWAY FROM AQUA NET HAIRSPRAY. THIS IS A VERY HARSH HAIRSPRAY AND WILL FUSE THE HAIR TOGETHER MAKING IT ONE BIG MATTED BALL.

* WHEN UNTANGLEING THE WIG, ALWAYS USE A WIDE TOOTH COMB. BEGIN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WIG AND WORK YOUR WAY SLOWLY AND GENTLY UPWARDS TOWARDS THE BASE.

Another way of changin the look of your wig is to try wearing it in a loose ponytail, half up / haf down, put some clips in it, wear a headband, 2 pig tails, have fun with it. You are not confined to one style and thats it. As for changing it's curls...then you should look into purchasing a curly one for days you want curl.
